SKINCARE IN WINTER WITH LEONIE ROFNER

Winter time is outdoor time: at least for us in Innsbruck! When we're not on a secret beauty mission, you'll find us in the Tyrolean mountains with the first snowfall - or somewhere out in the beautiful nature. But how do we ensure that not only we have fun, but also our skin? We asked our beauty expert Leonie for advice and got professional tips for the right care routine for a day in the snow.

SO GOOD THAT YOU ARE MAKING TIME FOR US AGAIN TODAY! AS A REAL TYROLEAN, ARE YOU ALSO A PASSIONATE WINTER SPORTER?

I have to admit, I'm not a ski lover and prefer to enjoy the joy of winter in the form of wellness, punch and delicacies. 😉 But I love winter and can tell you what your skin needs to get through the season well cared for!

PERFECT! WHY DO WE NEED TO ADJUST OUR SKINCARE IN WINTER?

I would like to tell you this: it needs more protection from dryness! Because not only the warm air from the heating system, but also the cold stress them to the extreme: at temperatures below 8°C, our hard-working sebaceous glands reduce their fat production. This causes the skin to lose moisture - and we have to give it back with more care. That means: Richer formulations and intensive extra care is key!

KEYWORD COLD: HOW DO WE BEST PREPARE OUR COMPLEXION FOR A DAY OUTDOOR IN THE SNOW?

The following applies in particular here: Don’t hesitate to hydrate! It's best to start the day before and do something good for your skin with a peeling - you'll free it of dead skin cells and allow it to absorb more of the protective active ingredients of your care products. On the ski day itself, I'll give you an extra rich serum in oil and a special one in the morning rich eye cream to the heart.

AND WHAT BELONGS IN OUR SMALL PISKI LUGGAGE?

Your piste bag should definitely include: a good sunscreen (!), a lip balm with SPF, a rich face cream and hand care. CHECK! And don't forget to reapply sunscreen regularly. Even if it is cold, the light reflects particularly strongly into the snow-covered mountain. By the way, this doesn't just apply to the day of skiing: sun protection is also very important when strolling through the city during Advent. And if you still have room in your bag, my hot tip for your break in the hut is a pair of sunglasses - not only stylish, but also protection against the sun lamps.

SUPER! DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TIP FOR US FOR THE RIGHT “APRÈS-SKI” CARE?

Oh yes! For the stressed helmet hairstyle and winter manes in general Hair masks (It's best to leave it on overnight) and leave-in products like great hair serums are a real treat. The heat and cold also put a strain on our scalp and hair structure. And as a little “après-ski ritual” at home, a cozy hot bath, a body peeling and a luxurious body oil bring the body back into feel-good mode. And yes, don't neglect your feet - because they've done a great job and are really happy about a nourishing one Foot butter!

YOU REALLY DESERVE THIS! DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER TIP FOR US FOR WINTER CARE IN GENERAL?

In general, I can give you this rule for the winter: always adapt skin care and make-up to your plans individually and on a daily basis! This means that if you spend a day indoors, you can use your “usual” winter skincare products. If you're planning a day outdoors, then choose richer formulations with more moisture - and in the evening for extra care such as nourishing regeneration masks. Your skin will thank you for this loving care!
