"GO GIRL GO!" PODCAST - EPISODE 3 TINA MÜLLER

She is one of the most dazzling and influential managers in Germany: Douglas boss Tina Müller. In the podcast she takes us behind the scenes. How do you seal a deal with the Kardashians? Why does her time in a ten-person shared apartment at Harvard still have an impact on her to this day? And: What dream project would she like to realize one day?

Role models can have an incredible impact – especially on us women. When we see what other women have achieved, it encourages us to believe in ourselves too. Studies show that we have more confidence in ourselves when women naturally occupy positions in top management and shine as role models. And that's what happened to Germany's model manager, who is now a role model for many young women: Tina Müller, CEO of Douglas and previously Marketing Director of Opel.
In the podcast “GO GIRL GO!” She tells Judith how, after graduating from high school, she did an internship in marketing at the beverage manufacturer Apollinaris - at a time when there weren't many women in top positions. Apollinaris' head of marketing at the time was female, which impressed the young intern. “It was somehow natural that a woman would head marketing for such a large company,” says Tina Müller. "From that moment on, I never questioned that women could do that. This experience had a huge impact on my career path. I thought to myself: I can do that too!"

In the podcast with Judith it becomes clear how much she could do it! Her impressive management career took her via Henkel to Opel until she finally became boss of Douglas four years ago. As a woman, did she have to make different compromises than men? Yes, she says, laughing. At Opel, for example, she regularly had to go to football games. Formula 1, football and marathons – these are the topics on Monday mornings in male-dominated boards.

As one of the most influential managers in the country, Tina Müller can laugh about such rituals today. She appears humorous in conversation with Judith and speaks openly about her trademark, bright red lipstick. But she also strikes a thoughtful tone, for example when asking what changes when you move to the top of a company. The further up you go, the quieter the critical voices become, she complains. That's something she's missing. You need headwind in order to grow, says Müller. In order for more women to move into leadership positions, corporations and companies would have to change and break with old approaches. “Companies must have flexible structures so that women can return from parental leave with more hours and continue their careers.” But ultimately the decision is personal to each woman. Her beautiful conclusion: “There is not just one way to happiness.”

And you will also find out in the podcast: How did Tina Müller bag a mega deal with Kylie Jenner? Why is diversity important in companies and what mindset do we need in a world that changes so quickly that we sometimes can't keep up? Curious? Then be sure to listen to the new episode of “GO GIRL GO!”
