Betül Yönak-Bein suffered from neurodermatitis – until she treated her skin with propolis. The discovery led to his own business. Together with her husband Florian she founded the brand bedrop: her products are all about the power of bees. And with Judith's help, they now want to get started.

Betül (laughs): That's correct! She had received a presentation from us about our story and our products and when she read the word “propolis” she was hooked, as we heard. She always took it as a child and immediately wanted to get to know us.

Betül: We're thrilled she's on board! She is incredibly strong in sales and has an incredible network. The opportunity to use teleshopping is also huge for us. Because: We have products that require explanation and that not many people are familiar with.

Florian: Maybe I should add that Betül is a huge fangirl of Judith anyway. (laughs) She read her biography and received a personal dedication when she met her recently. If we had gone to “The Lion’s Den,” she would have been our absolute dream lioness.

Florian: We actually applied because we are total fans from the very beginning and never miss an episode. But through another investor who contacted Judith, the connection came about even without the show. Of course we didn't say no. As I said, if we had performed there, we would have chosen Judith anyway.

Betül: We currently have three products on offer, all of which have their origins in bees. Royal jelly is the best of the best, because the honey bees use this food juice to raise their queens. We can take advantage of the antibacterial, antioxidant and restorative properties of this substance. We also sell propolis, also called tears of the trees. The bees use the propolis they produce for their hive: the antibacterial, disinfectant and antiseptic effect protects it against bacteria, viruses and fungi. And the third product is a very special honey, Manuka honey from New Zealand. The Manuka plant only grows in New Zealand and it also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Florian: Both inside and outside! When used internally, they are absolute energy donors. They have an incredible effect on our vitality. We can also use it to treat our skin directly - be it for herpes, acne, wounds or neurodermatitis.

Betül: By the way, that's how we came up with the idea. I had neurodermatitis and didn't want to just treat my skin with cortisone. It can't be that alone, I thought to myself. At some point I accidentally tried propolis. I couldn't believe how much my skin improved. Florian then said that we can help many people with similar problems. And that's how bedrop came about!

Florian: Every day! When we get up in the morning, the first thing we do is grab our cell phone to check what feedback we have received. And we're really touched by how much and what's there! For example, a grandma wrote to us that her grandson's cough had gotten much better since he started taking our power combination. And many people actually come forward who are struggling with neurodermatitis and report improvement after just one week. You simply notice: our products have a purpose!

Betül: In winter, our set of Manuka honey and propolis was the absolute bestseller, as there were great synergies from both raw materials and people took it as a preventive measure during the flu season.

Betül: Yes, exactly! Our materials are well known and have just been forgotten. We asked ourselves: If propolis, for example, was already useful in ancient Egypt, why shouldn't it be used today? It's similar to BitterLove: We want to bring lost knowledge about beauty and health back into today.

Betül: Everything we do is certified organic and sustainability is very important to us when it comes to packaging and labels. And of course our products are also attractive in design!

Betül: No, not at all! Florian has already founded a company and we complement each other so well that it was immediately clear: That's what we're doing!

Florian: In general, we want to take away everyone's fear of becoming self-employed. The argument against this is often security. But they don't exist anywhere! Even in a large corporation you can lose your job after many years. You should just do what your heart beats for and do everything you can to make that dream come true. It's not primarily about the money, but about being able to build something together. With the investment from Judith and the others, we can now hire employees and make the thing really big. This really is the jackpot!
