"GO GIRL GO!" PODCAST - EPISODE 6 ANA IVANOVIĆ

Ana Ivanović looks back on a great tennis career, which from the outside looks as if she always hit life's balls perfectly. In the new “GO GIRL GO!” podcast, Bastian Schweinsteiger’s wife lets us take a look behind the scenes and talks about a childhood in which she trained tennis while bombs were falling.

What a career: Ana Ivanović won 15 WTA titles and led the world rankings for 12 weeks in 2008 - after winning the French Open in the same year. Time Magazine ranks her among the 30 greatest tennis legends of all time. Today she enjoys spending time with her husband, soccer world champion Bastian Schweinsteiger, and their two small sons.

But what appears so flawless and free of problems from the outside was once anything but. Ana is twelve years old when war breaks out in her home country of Serbia. The daily wail of sirens was part of everyday life for Ana and her family. During this time she had to train in a converted swimming pool: the empty pool was her tennis court.

In the podcast “GO GIRL GO!” She tells openly and honestly what this time has done to her - and how growing up during the war has shaped her to this day. "I had a good childhood, but you saw a lot of sadness and poverty all over the country. My parents had to go to Hungary just to get food. I appreciate things a lot more because I know where we came from." She learned an incredible amount of humility from home and the strength to believe in herself, even when circumstances make it difficult.

If you're curious and want to know what advice she gives, especially to girls, and what Agent 007 had to do with her plan B if her tennis career didn't work out, be sure to listen to this new episode! It's a conversation that gives you the courage to make your dreams come true and to listen to the best guide there is: your inner voice. Good to know: The episode is in English.
